10 Things You Never Knew About 'Married with Children'

Married with Children debuted in 1987, and was Fox's first big sitcom, which generated plenty of controversy. It wasn't a hit right away, but the series gained a huge following throughout its 11-season run, with many calling it the "Anti-Cosby Show." The series ended rather abruptly when it went off the air in 1997, and fans have been clamoring for its return since then.
Last year, it was confirmed that Sony Pictures Television is developing a revival of the iconic sitcom Married With Children, which will center on David Faustino returning as Bud Bundy, who is grown up with a family of his own. That report revealed the entire cast, including Ed O'Neil, Katey Sagal and Christina Applegate will return as the Bundy clan, but we haven't had any updates on this long-awaited series for some time. Today we have word from David Faustino himself, who reveals that this project is still hung up on one legal issue with Married with Children Reboot.
In honor of the show's potential return to TV, here's 10 things you maybe didn't know about it.
1. The show was the first prime-time TV series to air on Fox.
Eleven seasons of the show aired between April 5, 1987 to June 9, 1997. Its 262-episode run also makes it the longest-lasting live-action sitcom on Fox.
2. Sam Kinison and Roseanne Barr were considered for the role of Al and Peggy Bundy.
Kinison later appeared in the It's a Wonderful Life-inspired episode "It's a Bundyful Life: Part 2." Kinison played Al's guardian angel.
3. Michael Richards auditioned for the role of Al Bundy.
This was two years before he landed his now famous role as Kramer on Seinfeld.
4. It was Katey Sagal's idea to dress Peggy Bundy in 1960s-inspired outfits.
Her look was a parody of the 1960s housewife. During her audition, she wore a large red wig, which made it to the show after she got the role.
5. Ed O'Neill called fans as Al Bundy on their birthdays and on holidays.
He would call them collect in true Al Bundy fashion, of course.
6. The Bundy and Rhodes families were named after professional wrestlers.
They were King Kong Bundy (who guest starred on two episodes) and Dusty Rhodes. Contrary to popular belief, the Bundys were not named after serial killer Ted Bundy.
7. Christina Applegate wore a long blond wig for most of Season 10.
She had dyed her hair red for her 1997 role in Nowhere.
8. Al Bundy's "Mighty Dodge" is actually a 1972 Plymouth Duster.
Car geeks already knew that, right?
9. There is a Russian remake of the show.
The Russian TV series called Happy Together aired from 2006 to 2013.
10. Buck the Dog was on the show from the day it began until the 10th season.
He sadly passed away in 1996 at the age of 13.
Stay tuned for more on the Married With Children revival.

I wonder why they didn’t name Jeffersons Darcy last name after a wrestler!
